Second debate - my first take

Once again, Obama presented himself as in touch, in command of the issues, decent but tough, respectful of McCain but not at all deferential. He seems to know what he's talking about. He seems to know what is happening around the country and around the world. He seems to know what he intends to do about these things. His temperament seems perfectly suited to the times and the circumstances.

I think the majority of voters are ready to vote for Obama. There is nothing positive that the McCain/Palin campaign can do to get them elected on their merits. Their campaign is already almost 100% negative, and it hasn't worked.

Given that they can only win by destroying Obama, and given that their attempts up to now have not been successful, the most important question is: how far will they be willing to go?
